The Forge of Empires Winners Plaza is an exciting hub for map makers, providing a platform where they can showcase their creativity and skills. The plaza has been instrumental in fostering a community of passionate gamers who share a love for strategy and competition.

In recent years, the Winners Plaza has seen significant growth and development. In the past, Blizzard provided money prizes for the top 5 maps, as well as the prize pool for the BaseTradeTV map test tournament held on these maps. This initiative encouraged more creators to participate in the contest, leading to an increase in the number of submissions.

One of the notable changes introduced by Blizzard was the expansion of the categories. The previous TLMC contests were open to 1v1 and team maps, but this time around, contestants were required to submit their maps under one of the four distinct categories: a map with cool high-yield resource usage, a new map type that had never been seen before, a rush map that promotes heavy early-game play, or a macro map where it's straightforward to play and take expansions.

The seventh TLMC occurred in Spring 2016, which saw a significant increase in participation. After the entrants were narrowed down by judges, both pro players and the general public voted for their favorite maps. A second TL open tournament was held on these maps, with Blizzard providing prizes for the top three winners.

The contest has a rich history dating back to Spring 2013, just after the release of Heart of the Swarm. The introduction of Ohana and Cloud Kingdom in the 1v1 map pool marked a significant turning point, as they became staples in the tournament scene. Korhal Compound was also introduced during this period, further expanding the options for players.

In each edition of the TLMC, the finalists are narrowed down by a panel of judges and then voted on by both TeamLiquid staff and the general public. Blizzard provides prizes to the makers of the top 5 maps, recognizing their hard work and dedication.
